He described the Margaritaville legend as a 'treasured entertainer' after news of his death was confirmed on Saturday (September 2). A statement shared by Buffett's loved ones on social media confirmed he died with friends and family by his side the previous night. It read: 'Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. 'He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.' Tributes have since flooded the internet, with Sir Elton, 76, sharing a sweet message to his Instagram Story.
