Armed police swoop as dog attacks two women putting them both in hospital

Police said they attended the scene after receiving reports of a dog attacking another dog, with the owners of the pets taken to hospital after sustaining bite injuries

Armed police have rushed to the scene of a dog attack after an altercation between pets in a park left two women in hospital.

Emergency services closed Leigh Road in Atherton, Greater Manchester while they carried out a search of the area, and a dog was seized.

One eyewitness described a woman “with her hands all bandaged up” being taken into an ambulance.

Another claimed on social media that the breed of one of the dogs involved was an “XL bully”, and said it had been “seized but not yet put down”, reports Manchester Evening News. The breed of the dog has not been confirmed by police.
