Chelsea and Arsenal ‘agree’ deadline day deals with Nottingham Forest

Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly agreed a couple of deals with Nottingham Forest ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, according to reports. The Reds have been among the Premier League’s busiest clubs in terms of recruitment since gaining promotion two seasons ago and look set to add further quality to their ranks over the next few hours. Forest have already confirmed the signing of Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares, who has moved to the City Ground on loan until the end of the campaign. The 23-year-old has struggled to break into the Gunners side following his move from Benfica in 2021 and spent last season at Marseille, scoring six goals from 39 appearances in all competitions.Tavares will now be hoping to kick on at Forest, where he will be tasked with helping Steve Cooper’s side to secure Premier League survival for the second year in a row. He told Forest’s official website : “I’m really happy to be here. Forest is a historic club which won two European Cups and to be part of it makes me really happy. I’m really happy to stay in the Premier League as it’s the best league in the world and I’m thankful to Forest for giving me that opportunity.” Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly agreed two deals with Nottingham Forest (Image: GETTY) The arrival of Tavares will reportedly be followed by the permanent capture of Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is thought to have arrived at the City Ground to undergo a medical. A verbal agreement has already been reached at club level, according to Fabrizio Romano, with reports suggesting that Hudson-Odoi could move for as little as £8million.The former England ace has endured a fall from grace over the last few seasons, having completely dropped out of the first-team picture at Chelsea. He spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen but only managed to score one goal in all competitions during his time in Germany. He will be desperate to revive his career at Forest after being given a lifeline by the Reds, who will be counting on him to provide a sustained attacking threat over the course of the campaign. Callum Hudson-Odoi is reportedly set to join Nuno Tavares at the City Ground (Image: GETTY) It has been claimed that Hudson-Odoi’s decline has been partly due to Chelsea’s recruitment policy, with co-owner Todd Beohly having spent close to £1bn on new players in less than two years. Former Premier League striker Frank McAvennie believes that Hudson-Odoi still has every chance of realising his potential but only in a new environment away from Stamford Bridge. “I feel for Callum Hudson-Odoi, I think he’s a good player but there are an awful lot of good players at Chelsea who are not going to make the first team,” McAvennie told Football Insider . “It’s a crying shame because there’s some decent players in there. Every one player at the club has got about four or five places they have to fight for and it’s ridiculous. I think he’s a good player, but I think you’ve got to go in and kickstart your career again because it was going so well and then all of a sudden just when you think you’re going to make it, it’s not happened.” Want the latest Premier League news as we publish it on  Express Sport ?
