Man Utd transfer news: Mason Greenwood set for huge pay cut as decision made on fee

Lazio are trying to sign Mason Greenwood Lazio have reportedly been told they can sign Mason Greenwood on a free transfer from Manchester United. The Italian outfit remain in talks with the England international over a deadline day move and there is every chance it could materialise before the window closes later tonight. Trending United confirmed last month that they would be offloading Greenwood despite initial suggestions he could be handed a pathway back into the first team under Erik ten Hag. Now the Red Devils are working with the player and his representatives to find a solution as there is no way back for him at Old Trafford. According to Sky Italia, Lazio are making progress on a permanent deal for the 21-year-old. They have been told they can sign Greenwood for free as United just want to get him off their books. Mason Greenwood would have to take a huge paycut to join Lazio The report also adds that Lazio are looking at offering Greenwood a salary worth €700,000 per year which, incredibly, works out at around £12,500 per week. Greenwood currently earns in excess of £75,000 per week but there’s an appreciation that he is unlikely to earn a salary as high as that again in the future. The player would be due just under £8million in wages if he was to see out the final two years of his deal but United expect him to depart imminently. There has previously been interest from the likes of Besiktas and Roma but they are yet to make an official move for the forward. Getafe are also understood to have registered loan interest. More info Trending Ten Hag recently refused to discuss whether he was prepared to bring Greenwood back into the United fold. “We are not where we want to be with our team, A lot of focus is on my team so focus on the players who are available,” the Dutchman said. “I only have statements about our performance. “I have a lot of focus on my team so I focus on the players who are available.
