"But I always knew I wanted to build my grandchildren a rollercoaster." White built the park in the back yard of his Decatur home; the rollercoaster in just over a week. He said the rollercoaster starts from his second floor deck, with gravity alone pulling the car around a track made from PVC pipe. It is supported by wood and cement and has a wheel system locked onto it. White's granddaughter Sophia, 2, was rapt about the project, spending much of her time out the back of her grandpa's house, riding her personal rollercoaster and Ferris wheel. White said: "My family and friends thought the idea was crazy. "But when people tell me I can't do something, that just motivates me to do it." The grandfather lives on an 80-acre property in rural Texas that has belonged to his family for decades. He said he plans to add a motorised swing chair, and possibly a system to return the rollercoaster car to the top of his deck after a ride, to the spectacular little park. White has no formal engineer training, but said his background working in electrical maintenance for more than 20 years helped him understand how to construct the rides. He said: "If I can see something and think of something, then I'll build it."
