Patriots wide receiver Matthew Slater echoed Gesicki's comments. Slater said: "Obviously, Mac is our quarterback. We've got a lot of belief in him. We support him." Belichick gave himself a four-day head start to cut down his roster ahead of the 2023 campaign. Teams are only allowed a 55-man squad with 53 of those on the roster active. "Unfortunately, we all know that 90 has got to go to 53," Belichick said on Monday. "It's 37 players who can't be on the 53-man roster, and we all knew that when we signed up for it.
