Sofyan Amrabat is likely to join Manchester United this week with Erik ten Hag deploying a similar waiting game to the one that saw Casemiro arrive at Old Trafford last year
Manchester United have had to be patient in their pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat â but it looks likely to pay off.
There are undeniable echoes with a year ago, when the Red Devils waited until the closing days of the transfer window to secure their long-awaited central midfield signing. Erik ten Hag secured the stunning capture of Casemiro from Real Madrid â a signing that transformed his starting XI.
Amrabat is unlikely to have the profile or prominence of the Brazilian star, but his addition to United’s ranks will be greatly welcomed. The first three games of the campaign have exposed the side’s midfield frailties and the need for an athletic and positionally aware addition.
The Moroccan international is desperate to leave Fiorentina â who promised him in January that he could move in summer. He has not featured in either of the Italian side’s opening two Serie A games of the campaign, as they prepare for his exit.
