Gallagher captained Chelsea in their 2-1 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening and speaking after the game, the midfielder made it clear that he wants to fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino's side. 'I don't want to stop, I want to keep improving, keep helping the club,' Gallagher said. 'It was a great moment tonight [captaining the team] and hopefully many more. 'It's great to have a great squad that we have for this season, it's really important to help us win games. 'I'm happy with how it's going so far for myself, I want to keep improving and keep helping the team get more wins.' Meanwhile, Pochettino also praised Gallagher for his solid start to the season in Chelsea's midfield. 'Conor is a great professional, his commitment with the club, with the team,' Pochettino said. 'I'm so happy for him because he's showing great character, great commitment, he's playing very well.' Chelsea are also closing in on a £45m deal to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City.
