Spurs are still thought to be favourites for Wales forward’s signature but Thomas Frank’s side have upped their offer for priority target
Brentford are making a late push for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson after submitting a club record £40 million offer.
Johnson is set to move this week, with Tottenham Hotspur also in talks to sign the Wales international, but Brentford have ramped up their long-standing interest with a third bid of this transfer window.
Brentford’s pursuit of the 22-year-old stretches back almost two years, with the club having at least three offers rejected when Forest were operating in the Championship.
Bids of £30 million and £35 million this summer were both turned down, but the west London club have now returned with an improved offer which is edging closer to Forest’s valuation.
