Interview: Redrow boss Matthew Pratt on why fickle politicians are exacerbating Britain’s housing crisis
Housing has become a “political football” and ministers should not be allowed anywhere near it, according to the boss of Redrow.
Matthew Pratt, chief executive of one of Britain’s biggest house builders, is exasperated by the sclerotic state of the planning system and the constant flip-flopping of government ministers on policy.
“Everything I do, I invest for a very long time,” Pratt says.
“But at the moment you just don’t have that. Instead, we have a government that is focused on short-term policy – and it is just not helping.
