NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
There was a lot of speculation when Tom King returned to Emmerdale earlier this year. The character had left the show in 2013 after making Chas Dingle’s life hell over the death of his father Carl (Tom Lister). Would he feel he had scores to settle? Would he be accepted back into the village?
Tom King returned from a number of years living in Saudi Arabia quite a changed man. He was played by a different actor, for a start, with James Chase taking over the role from Mark Flanagan. He was also now a qualified vet and was soon working alongside Rhona (Zoe Henry) and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) in the village, despite carrying out unauthorised surgery on Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell)’s dog Monty beforehand.
He picked up his relationship with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), and eventually became reconciled to the rest of his family, including uncle Jimmy King (Nick Miles). He seems to have settled into the village well, and in fact has been a lot more in the background than we expected him to be when he came back to the show.
That’s set to change in upcoming episodes when Tom finds himself at the centre of a very frightening incident when he’s attacked.
