Police find body in hunt for Claire Knights who vanished on dog walk amid murder probe

Police have found a body in the search for 54-year-old Claire Knights, who went missing on August 23 while walking her dog in the village of Upstreet, Kent

A body has been found in the search for a mum who vanished while walking her dog – after a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Claire Knights was last seen on August 23 while walking her white and brown spaniel in the village of Upstreet, Kent. The 54-year-old’s car was found parked nearby and her dog was running loose on a beach.

In an update this morning, officers confirmed a woman was found dead near Minnis Bay in Birchington – where Ms Knights was walking to. The body has not yet been formally identified, but her family has been informed.

The death is being treated as suspicious, said the force. A man in his 20s, from Margate, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday.
