Manchester United’s most expensive summer signing has been left out of the side again versus Nottingham Forest despite Sir Alex Ferguson’s strong warning – but there is a good reason why
Erik ten Hag has revealed that Rasmus Hojlund will not be making his Manchester United debut against Nottingham Forest despite Sir Alex Ferguson’s strong warning.
The £72m arrival from Atalanta was the man to bring to an end the Red Devils boss’ summer-long search for a striker. However, he has yet to make his debut for United and that will not come against Forest on Saturday afternoon.
The Dane has been recovering with a back issue throughout the opening few weeks of the campaign and has yet to take part in his first training session with his new club. In better news, however, Ten Hag revealed that Hojlund is not far away from a potential debut.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash, he said: “Today [Friday], for the first time, he came into team training. Next week we expect him to do a full week with all the team trainings. So he’s very near to making the squad.”
