 A murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed to death in Battersea. Metropolitan Police officers and emergency medical services responded to the scene in Thessaly Road shortly after 12.30pm on Thursday. They found a 32-year-old man who had suffered a number of knife wounds, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene half an hour later. The victim's family has been informed of his death and a post-mortem examination will be taken out. No arrests have been made. The crime scene was cordoned off and forensic tents erected as investigators worked to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing. Met Police swiftly launched a murder investigation into the attack, calling on witnesses and anyone with information to come forward. 'At this early stage we are putting together a timeline of events that led to, and immediately followed this stabbing, and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of this incident or has information concerning the identity of the person responsible,' Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of the Met's Specialist Crime Command said. 'If you have information please do get in touch – even details that may seem irrelevant could be important to our investigation.' Chief Superintendent Roger Arditti said he was 'saddened' to see another life 'needlessly ended by knife crime', adding there would be a heightened presence of officers in the area over the coming days.
