Mount’s injury means Scott McTominay comes back into United picture after transfer interest in the Scotland international
Mason Mount is set to be sidelined for the next four to six weeks and his absence could have repercussions for Scott McTominay’s future at Manchester United.
Mount was substituted towards the end of United’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday with a hamstring injury and will be out until after the international break next month.
A four-week lay-off would rule the England midfielder – a £55 million summer signing from Chelsea – out until September 19.
That could see him miss the visit of Brighton in United’s first game after the internationals and potentially the club’s first Champions League group game, as well as Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest and the trip to Arsenal eight days later.
