Oleksandr Usyk: I’ve seen exploded tanks and people with no legs

Oleksandr Usyk heads into Saturday’s fight with Daniel Dubois off the back of a visit to the front line of the war in Ukraine that has left him more determined than ever to provide a sense of escapism for his suffering compatriots.

Ukrainian Independence Day is on Thursday and as he prepared for the fight in Wroclaw, Poland, to where a significant portion of the Ukranian population was forced to move when their country was invaded by Russia, Usyk said he was well aware of the need to give them something to celebrate.
