The woman bought the $50 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off card at a Publix Supermarket in North Miami, winning her the second top prize available on the Florida Lottery game

A 69-year-old woman has hit the jackpot, winning $1 million (£785,850) after playing a scratch-off lottery ticket she bought at a supermarket in Florida.

Amelia Agosto bought the 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game at a Publix Supermarket in North Miami, according to the Florida Lottery. She headed to the Lottery’s Miami District Office where she decided to take a one-off lump sum payment of $820,000 (£644,400).

As a result of selling the winning ticket, the Publix supermarket on Biscayne Boulevard is set to receive a bonus commission $2,000 (£1,572). The $50 Scratch-Off game 500X THE CASH features a top prize of $25 million.

That’s the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game. According to the Florida Lottery, it has the “best odds to become an instant millionaire!”
