★★★★★The choreographer Alvin Ailey died in 1989, but the dance ensemble he founded in New York City 65 years ago remains uncommonly strong and fresh these days. That is great news, because we will be seeing a lot of them over the next two months – initially at the Edinburgh International Festival, where the company just relaunched post-pandemic international touring with a pair of triple bills, followed by a two-week run of four different programmes at Sadler’s Wells in London from September 5.
