Ivan Toney speaks out on eight-month ban for gambling: ‘I’m in football prison’

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Brentford striker Ivan Toney says he is currently in ‘football prison’ due to his eight-month ban for gambling and has questioned the timing of the charges brought against him.

Toney, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, was suspended in May for 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules.

However, the 27-year-old was charged by the FA in November, which ruled him out of a place in England’s squad for their World Cup campaign in Qatar last winter.

‘Personally, I feel like it was a bit of a questionable time when they decided to bring it all out, and then when they actually dealt with the situation at the end of the season, I felt like, ‘why did you bring it out then?’,’ Toney said on The Diary of a CEO Podcast.
