United then conducted an extensive investigation of their own into the incidents, and a verdict was expected before the start of the Premier League campaign in mid-August. That decision was delayed last week, with United denying reports that they had briefed senior figures at the club that Greenwood had been set to return to the first team. But United have now confirmed that Greenwood's time at the club is over.
