One in four adults without children like to go away outside of traditional summer months – due to lower costs, cooler autumn weather, and fewer noisy kids
The Canary Islands, Amsterdam, and Paris are among this year’s top trending destinations â for child-free adults looking to take a holiday in September or October, research has found.
Figures from hotel booking site, Hotels.com, found that searches for adult-only vacations in “Shoulder Season” â the period between summer and winter â increase more than tenfold compared to family holidays during this time, with a 1,170% rise.
And when looking at some of the destinations that have increased in popularity since September 2022, travel company Expedia found that searches for October holidays in Amsterdam are up 70% year-on-year, while Paris has seen a 35% year-on-year increase for September trips.
Meanwhile, Tenerife is “King of the Canaries”, with searches up 25% compared to last year for both September and October vacations â and double the searches for Gran Canaria and Lanzarote combined.
