Burnley owner reveals two managers were interviewed for job before Vincent Kompany

Burnley chief Alan Pace has starred in Sky’s new documentary series ‘Mission to Burnley’ where he revealed the club’s plans before appointing Vincent Kompany as manager in 2022

Burnley chairman Alan Pace seemingly revealed details behind the hiring process of the club’s new manager before hiring Vincent Kompany.

Pace has been chairman of the Clarets since the takeover of the club was completed in December 2020. And there was plenty of work that needed to be completed behind the scenes following the conclusion of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Burnley were relegated from the top flight for the first time since 2015, and there was also the need for a new manager. Sean Dyche had been sacked in April 2022 after being the manager of the club for a decade.

As a result, Pace and the Burnley hierarchy needed to appoint a new manager. In the end, it was decided that former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany would be hired for what would be his first senior managerial role in England, leaving his role at Belgian club Anderlecht in the process.
