Man breaks down in tears on Antiques Roadshow after being told he would be rich

Antique Roadshow on PBS has made thousands of appraisals, but this one shocked owner Ted Kuntz and expert Donald Ellis with its ties to American history

Ted Kuntz appeared on PBS’ Antiques Roadshow with a blanket he said was “over the back of a chair” and was shocked when he found out what it was worth.

He had no idea if the blanket was worth anything, but thought that he should find out. Appraiser Donald Ellis was visibly excited when Ted approached him with the striped blue, white, and brown blanket. “Did you notice when you showed this to me I kind of stopped breathing a little bit?” Donald said, “Do you have a sense at all of what you’re looking at here?”

Ted started crying as Donald added: “Are you a wealthy man? Well sir, I’m still a little nervous here. On a really bad day, this textile would be worth $350,000 [£274,000]. On a good day, it’s about half a million dollars.”
