 A woman has been taken into custody after driving into seven pedestrians in Manhattan, before crashing her car on a highway 14 miles away. A total of six victims were hospitalized late Sunday night and early Saturday morning after an unidentified woman drove through a red light and struck seven people in a Midtown crosswalk. The collision happened at the intersection of West 36th Street and 6th Avenue, just blocks away from Penn Station and Macy's Herald Square. The reckless driver then sped off from the chaotic scene, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said. The victims ranged in age from 24 to 61. Most are believed to be New York residents, but investigators believe one or two may have been tourists. One woman and four men were transported to Bellevue Hospital, with at least one in critical condition. Another 32-year-old man was transported to New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. A seventh victim, identified as a 30-year-old man, refused medical attention. After the collision, the unidentified woman drove eastbound on West 36th Street towards the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. About 30 minutes later, she collided again with two other cars driving on the Long Island Expressway in Queens. She was about 14 miles away from the intersection in Manhattan.
