The firm has made the drastic move as part of plans to reduce their shops across the brand from 2,200 to 19,00
High street pharmacist Boots has revealed it is closing more stores after it revealed plans to close 300 locations over the next year. Seven stores have already shut their doors for good with over a dozen store locations revealed by the high-street giant as set to close.
The firm has made the drastic move as part of plans to reduce their shops across the brand from 2,200 to 19,00. However Boots did not confirm which stores would go when the plans were announced in June. Then in July the company announced the names of the first nine branches would be closing this year.
But now another two have been added to that list, according to local news reports. The dates for these new closures have also been revealed. Coventry Live announced that the Boots pharmacy at Jardine Crescent in Tile Hill, Coventry will close for good later this year. It has now been confirmed that the store will shut the doors for the last time on October 27.
At the time Coventry North West MP Taiwo Owatemi said she was “disappointed and concerned” by the move after starting a petition to save the branch. Meanwhile the Liverpool Echo reported news of another store closure yesterday. The Boots branch in pharmacy in Castle Street, Liverpool, is set to close at the end of the year, it reported.
