The figures put support for Wales leaving the UK at 29% which is close to the levels it was seeing during the pandemic. Welsh independence group YesCymru have called it a ‘stunning’ poll – and say it’s evidence Wales is losing faith in Westminster, reports WalesOnline . The survey comes from Redfield and Wilton Strategies and was conducted with 1,068 eligible voters living in Wales. YesCymru board member Geraint Thomas said: ‘This latest opinion poll is stunning, and it is further evidence that people in Wales are rapidly losing faith in Westminster.” The figures put support for Wales leaving the UK at 29% (Image: Getty) He added: ‘It is obvious that the appetite within Wales for independence from Westminster is growing daily. ‘The surge towards the Yes vote in a future referendum has been growing at an average of a percentage point a month for the past six months – which is pretty unprecedented.’ A poll commissioned by WalesOnline in March showed indy support had fallen dramatically – so the surge will come as welcome news to independence supporters. The new polling also showed widespread support for Wales having its own parliament. A total of 55 percent of people said they would vote yes if there was a referendum on keeping the Welsh Parliament with just 23 percent saying no. The polling also looked at voting intention in both Westminster and Senedd elections. Both showed Labour getting a significant share of the vote with 32 percent and 31 percent of the vote respectively. There were signs of both a collapse in the Tory vote share and a tough upcoming General Election for Plaid Cyrmu. The Party of Wales was polling at just 10 percent for a general election but was up to its usual 15 percent in the Senedd election.
