Fulham supporters trudged out of Craven Cottage with the gleeful chorus of their West London rivals ringing in their ears but, perhaps more worryingly than their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford, were left facing up to the imminent departure of their talismanic striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Marco Silva, the Fulham head coach, confirmed that the Serbian – scorer of 111 goals in 206 games for Fulham – is close to joining the Saudi club Al-Hilal and the Portuguese could not hide his frustration at the way Mitrovic has “forced everything to leave the club” this summer.
