Parents furious over school delay as pupil calculations don’t add up

Parents have accused education officials of putting the future of their children at risk by their disastrous failure to plan properly for pupil numbers in new schools.

Park Mains High in Erskine is already having to be expanded after serious errors with forecasts of pupils graduating from Dargavel Primary, a feeder school in Renfrewshire, and may now have to be extended further.

Now parents in the village, near Bishopton, have been told the construction of a new primary to cope with increasing numbers could be delayed for up to a year.

A spokesman for Dargavel Primary Parent Council said they were told by a council official last December that the new school would be ready by August 2026 but council documents suggest it may not
