ID scammers stole my identity and I started getting O2 phone bills

Identity thieves are still finding new ways to use fake details to buy goods and services – particularly mobile phone contracts.

George Lynch found out that he was the victim of a scam when he was bombarded with letters from O2 in June, sometimes getting two a day. The mobile phone firm was demanding £23 for a missed payment on an Apple Watch and iPhone contract. Lynch, 23, from Bristol, who runs a gym and is a Muay Thai fighter, did not have an O2 contract. The letter said that his debt had been referred to a debt collection agency and that his credit score could be affected.
