Incoming Glanbia chief executive Hugh McGuire must be looking forward to getting his feet under the big desk in January.
His predecessor Siobhan Talbot is leaving him a business on the upswing after a challenging few years which featured activist pressure, major restructuring and the decline of SlimFast, the iconic meal replacement brand Glanbia bought in 2018.
The Kilkenny-based dairy and nutrition company just substantially upgraded its earnings growth guidance for 2023 after reporting better-than-expected results for the first half of the year.
Profits were up 6.1 per cent to $198.6 million (€182.7 million), while margins grew across all business segments, offsetting a decline in overall sales.
Not coincidentally, the positive outcome was driven by the Glanbia Performance Nutrition (GPN) division that McGuire already runs.
