Lego-loving Lauren Hemp spends free time building globe ahead of Women’s World Cup final

Lego-loving Lauren Hemp already has the world in her hands.

The Manchester City winger has spent some of her downtime in Australia using 2,600 of the multi-coloured building bricks to construct a globe as England have moved to within touching distance of becoming the best women’s football team on the planet.

City manager Gareth Taylor reckons it’s a passion that sums up his Euro-winning, four-time PFA Young Player of the Year perfectly. Hemp has been outstanding as the Lionesses have progressed to a World Cup Final meeting with Spain in Sydney – but Taylor isn’t worried in the slightest that her growing reputation as one of the game’s finest players will be anything other than positive.

“Lauren has shown at the World Cup that she is right up there with the game’s very best players,” said Taylor. “But when you work with her and really get to know her, you realise that one of her most endearing qualities is that she is still such a humble person.
