Chelsea news: Todd Boehly ‘sets aside £20m’ for ninth summer signing after Lavia and Olise

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has reportedly settled on a £20million budget for Mauricio Pochettino to sign a new back-up goalkeeper. The Blues have been forced into an awkward position by Kepa Arrizabalaga’s sudden move to Real Madrid , with the Spaniard hoping to make his loan permanent at the end of the season. Pochettino confirmed only last week that Sanchez would start the campaign as second choice between the sticks. But Kepa’s exit paved the way for the ex-Brighton stopper to start against Liverpool on Sunday, following his £25m switch from the Seagulls. Now, Chelsea are set to put their faith in Sanchez as No 1 for the rest of the season. Despite splashing out on a host of expensive recruits so far this summer, the Blues have been left short in goal. Youngster Lucas Bergstrom was on the bench at the weekend, although senior figures at Stamford Bridge reportedly feel as though he would not be ready for the Premier League if injury issues were to take hold.
