During the session one of several arguments ensued which resulted in the coach having to make an early exit. The 50-year-old was seen down on the ground after the fight ended. It is unclear what exactly happened to Oden, but he had to be carted off the field. He was transported to a nearby hospital for further tests and though Oden is still being assessed, he is understood to be alert and stable. Commenting on the incident Jets head coach Robert Selah said: "I think he caught some friendly fire. He's awake, he's doing fine, he's stable. He's doing fine. I'm not exactly sure what happened. I know it was during one of the altercations." It is understood that the Jets corner Brandin Echols was in the heat of the battle while Buccaneers star Mike Evans claimed he had never seen more fights in a joint practice session than what he saw between his team and the Jets. Oden was not the only person to suffer an injury during the session. Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage was in tears when he suffered a knee problem that appears to have ended his season before it even began. "We hear it's going to be pretty serious, and I'll wait to hear the final results," coach Todd Bowles said after the practice. "I can tell by the way that he was sitting on the truck that it was probably something that happened pretty bad," Bowles said. "Our hearts go out to him, and we'll see how it goes."
