Erik ten Hag warned Man Utd transfer plan “makes no sense” after latest target identified

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is desperate to add to his midfield options before the end of the transfer window but a former Red Devil is not overly convinced by one of the names linked

Ex-Manchester United star Mikael Silverstre has told the Red Devils to forget about a move for Amadou Onana, because he is no better than Scott McTominay.

The Everton star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the closing weeks of the transfer window. Erik ten Hag is keen to add to his midfield options on top of the three signings he has made so far this summer.

Onana – alongside Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat – have been identified as potential recruits. However, former Red Devil Silvestre has been left perplexed by United’s interest in the former given the fact that McTominay is already at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Bettingexpert, the Frenchman said: “I understand why, profile-wise, this is a player they are looking for. But when you have Scott McTominay, I don’t see what Onana will add to United if you want to step up and challenge for the title.
