In the footage, Pacheco can be seen being let into a home and rushing into the baby room before taking the child from its mother. The child is hit firmly on the back until it gasps for air and begins crying. Carlos was taken to Children's Hospital Colorado by paramedics from South Metro Fire Rescue. Choking can be a serious danger to young children, and Elmwood Paediatrics said it is the " leading cause of injuries among young children and infants." "One child in the US dies from choking every five days, and 75% of deaths occur in children under three," the health group said.
