Mandy Mulvey, 22, died following a crash near Wick, Scotland, five days after a single-vehicle crash as tributes were paid to the ‘enthusiastic and friendly’ hockey player
A talented young hockey player who died following a horror road smash was described as “brilliant wee star” as tributes were paid by her team and others shocked by the tragedy.
Mandy Mulvey was killed after after a single-vehicle crash in Caithness, near Wick in Scotland on Saturday. The 22-year-old had been driving an Audi A3 when it crashed on the B876 on August 5. Emergency crews were called to the incident at around 4.15am before she was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where she sadly died five days later. The young woman had a bright future in her sport and her club released a tribute in the wake of the tragedy.
Mandy’s hockey team, Thurso Hockey Club, released a statement saying she was getting better and better every week, the DailyRecord report. They said the nightclub worker will be missed by everyone as an investigation into Miss Mulvey’s death continues.
Her club said on social media: “Thurso Hockey Club are saddened to hear of the tragic passing of THC player Mandy Mulvey. Mandy was fairly new to the hockey scene, but was a friendly individual at our training sessions, and an enthusiastic player, improving week by week. She will be missed by everyone at the club, and our thoughts are with Mandy’s family at this time.”
