A disturbing video shows the moment a woman stood in the middle of a busy road waving a gun around before police crashed their car into her.
Police in Long Island used an SUV to sideswipe the woman, knocking her to the ground. Police responded to the scene in Nassau County after receiving 911 calls about a woman waving a gun around at 2.20pm on Tuesday, August 15 in the suburb of North Bellmore in Long Island, New York.
The 33-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was firing a semi-automatic pistol in the air and pointing it at oncoming vehicles. After knocking her to the ground, police quickly arrested her.
They said she was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital along with another officer being treated for trauma. Nassau County Police Commissioner, Patrick Ryder, said: “It’s a loaded handgun that she’s waving around, in traffic, pointing at cars with their kids in the car.
