 Shameless actor David Threlfell couldn't look further away from himself in the first look at new ITV drama Passenger. The 48-year-old is unrecognisable as character Jim Bracknell with his usual brown locks swapped for long grey hair and matching beard – like a Halloween version of Santa Claus. It's a marked difference for the Northern actor who is best known for playing Frank Gallagher in the Channel 4 hit Shameless and for roles in films including Hot Fuzz, Nowhere Boy and Black Sea opposite Jude Law. David's appearance is also a far cry from his appearances on TV, including Funny Woman, Charles Dickens' adaptation Dodger, Troy and Ricky Gervais' dark comedy Afterlife. In Passenger, David's character, a fracking site manager, finds himself blamed for mysterious goings-on and shocking crimes in town Chadder Vale as residents resort to short-sited theories to explain the chaos. Also on the cast is Loki's Wunmi Mosaku, who plays former Met Police Detective Riya Ajunwa and is tasked with uncovering the truth behind the strange and inexplicable events. 'Then one night local girl Katie Wells (Rowan Robinson) mysteriously disappears. The town barely has time to register her absence before she reappears the next day, apparently safe and sound. 'The townsfolk ask few questions and normal life resumes. But for Riya, a relative outsider to the Chadder Vale way of life, none of this sits right.'
