There were no shortage of new faces on the opening weekend of the Premier League – some of whom we knew, some we didn’t.
The big clubs showed off their new arrivals, several starting and quickly making an impact, others looking like they may need a bit more time to settle. Axel Disasi was quick to make his mark at Chelsea, Sandro Tonali and James Maddison were similar stories at Newcastle and Spurs respectively, whilst Mason Mount can’t have enjoyed a difficult opener at Manchester United.
Some of the clubs who are expected to struggle have gone for unproven talent as they look to unearth gems that can lead them to safety; we’ll be able to better assess those as the season goes on, but a couple showed undoubted promise early doors.
