Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late dad Eddie, who sadly died following a cancer diagnosis, with her daughter Lucia’s name
In a heartfelt tribute to her late father, Shaughna Phillips has revealed she has given her four-month-old daughter Lucia her own surname. The former Love Island star, who became a mother in April, shared this intimate detail during a debate about whether women should pass on their surnames to their children instead of the father’s.
The discussion, which took place on Good Morning Britain, prompted Shaughna to share her personal stance with her 1.4 million Instagram followers. She explained that Lucia’s surname is double-barrelled, a decision influenced by her desire to keep her father’s memory alive.
Shaughna wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Interested to know everyone’s thoughts on this. I decided I wanted to keep my surname after my dad passed away. I just felt like it was a part of him I never wanted to give up.” She further added, “So when I found out I was pregnant, Lucia’s surname was always going to be double-barrelled because mine will be if/when I get married.”
In a candid revelation, Shaughna shared: “Did you know that if your child only has dad’s surname and you travel without him, you need to travel with the baby’s birth certificate?” The reality star shares her daughter Lucia with estate agent boyfriend Billy Webb, who she disclosed ‘wasn’t around’ in March following his drug offence charges in January.
