Arsenal fear Jurrien Timber will be ruled out for months as a result of the knee injury he suffered against Nottingham Forest last Saturday.
Timber, who joined the club from Ajax this summer in a deal that could ultimately be worth around £39 million, limped off in the second half of Arsenal’s first game of the Premier League campaign.
Arsenal were on Monday afternoon waiting for a final diagnosis following further assessments and scans, although there are concerns it could be a long road back to full fitness for the defender.
It has been reported in Holland that Timber has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament, although Arsenal are yet to confirm the precise nature of his knee problem.
