Wild chase of stolen ambulance ends in over a dozen hit-and-run crashes before arrest

A Maryland man led Virginia police on a chaotic chase involving a stolen truck and ambulance, causing multiple crashes on major highways, before being apprehended in Washington DC

A Maryland man committed over a dozen hit-and-run crashes in a stolen ambulance, leading police on a wild chase around the neighborhood. The driver, identified as Darell T. Caldwell, 30, of Brandywine went on a rampage of destruction, at one point ramming the stolen ambulance into a trooper’s patrol car.

Caldwell also drove a stolen truck and drove it around on major northern Virginia highways this weekend. He has been taken into custody in the District of Columbia, authorities said.

Virginia State Police said there were no reports of serious injuries in Saturday’s crashes on portions of Interstate 66, I-395 and the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
