Sir Alex Ferguson’s concerns for Erik ten Hag evident in Man Utd’s nervy Wolves win

Manchester United got their new season off to a winning start but there was still a major issue that needed solving by Erik ten Hag according to legendary Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United kicked off their 2023/24 Premier League campaign with victory over Wolves.

The Red Devils sealed a slender 1-0 victory over the Midlands side, and might have felt themselves somewhat fortunate to have claimed the three points. Erik ten Hag ‘s men did not convince for large swaths of the game.

They struggled to really get going in attack – that despite fielding the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony, Alejandro Garnacho from the off. In fact, the Red Devils were limited to just three shots on target throughout the entire game. In the meantime, Wolves – the lowest scorers in the Premier League last season – let fly on 23 occasions throughout the 90 minutes, with six of those efforts on target.

It was clear where United’s problems surfaced – the lack of a real focal point limiting their attacking output. So, there was no real shock to see their goal come through a somewhat unconventional source as Raphael Varane headed home the winner from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross.
