DRIVERS are set to be hit with parking charges six times higher than before under a council’s strict new crackdown.
Motorists stopping in the London borough of Hackney could see their charges rise from £200 to a whopping £1,200 in coming years.
The steep parking fee increase is part of the council’s attempts to hit diesel and petrol vehicle drivers – by charging them the most.
It will be yet another cost Brit motorists will have to bear the brunt of – on top of fees like Ulez and the congestion charge.
Under the charges, an annual estate parking permit for diesel vehicles in Hackney will cost £213 this year.
