‘I travelled 600 miles in a day to visit Wetherspoons pubs

Bryan Dyer went from London to Cumbria and back all in one day just to get his Wetherspoons fix and says he won’t rest until he’s been to every single one in the UK

A Wetherspoons superfan travelled from London to Cumbria and back in a day just for a few pints – and has vowed to keep clocking up the miles until he’s visited every branch in Britain.

Bryan Dyer, 65, is determined to enjoy a beer in all the firm’s 827 pubs, and will tick off number 770 when he visits Buxton next week. He says he doesn’t care if people think his hobby is odd, and likened it to football groundhoppers who are determined to step foot in all the country’s stadiums.

The AFC Wimbledon supporter has been to all but a few of the 92 League grounds as well and says he started his Spoons obsession back in 2015. He’s managed to double up and get some boozers off the list whilst travelling around the country backing the League Two Dons and with retirement close, he’s now going to have more time on his hands.

“I decided to start about eight years ago and try and get to all the London pubs, I don’t really know why,” he told the Mirror. “Someone else was doing it, so I got involved – and now I’ve done all the south of England. Devon, Cornwall, you name it.
