 Another wildfire has erupted in Maui just hours after survivors returned to the devastated Hawaiian island. The historic town of Lahaina lies in complete ruins following the apocalyptic inferno that raged for hours on end. Locals have returned to take stock of the horror that remains after the deadly blaze, which was fuelled by wind gusts of up to 85mph from Hurricane Dora to the south. Officials say the death toll in the US state has now risen to at least 80 and 1,000 were still missing as of yesterday. And now a new fire is burning to the north-east of Lahaina and a community has been evacuated. The Maui police department said the fire prompted the evacuation of Kaanapali in West Maui on Friday night. Cops also said the fire is not yet contained. As long queues of traffic streamed back into the area, people were met with the catastrophic reality of the disaster. Blackened hulks of burned-out cars line the streets, pavements are streaked with melted and then rehardened chrome, and piles of ash-covered rubble lay where properties once stood. Homes, businesses, livelihoods; all gone. One man, named Lester, was tragically pictured searching for the urn with the ashes of his son where his bedroom would have been.
