Kane has left the club for Bayern Munich, with the switch being confirmed on Saturday morning ahead of a potential debut in the German Super Cup
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has moved quickly to name a new club captain in the wake of Harry Kane’s exit for Bayern Munich.
With club captain Hugo Lloris also on the verge of leaving the club, Postecoglou has turned to Son Heung-min to lead his side, who begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brentford on Sunday.
Son, 31, has been at Tottenham for eight years and is a huge favourite with the fans having struck up a lethal partnership with Kane in attack. He has scored 145 goals in 372 games, and he is also the captain of South Korea for whom he has picked up 111 caps.
Vice-captain Kane would often take the armband in the absence of veteran goalkeeper Lloris, who missed a chunk of last season through injury and who is set to seal a free transfer move away from north London after 11 years with the club, with Italian giants Lazio linked.
