As reported by the Sheffield Star , the Jaguar dealership will now be merging with the Wakefield branch- but it's not clear how many people, if any, will lose their job. Hatfields' managing director Gareth Williams said to customers: "As long as there have been Jaguars , Hatfields have been selling and servicing them, and we look forward to taking care of our Jaguar clients for many more years. "However, our facility in Sheffield is simply not capable of taking that leap into the future. "It has been a great servant to the people of Sheffield for over 40 years and there have been some truly memorable events in our Sharrow Vale Road showrooms launching and celebrating iconic cars." The managing director claimed their showroom did not have the capability to keep up with modern EV car sales. He added that is had "been an issue for far too long". However the dealership does intend to switch all of their stock to EVs by 2025. It will "be the biggest change we have ever seen", added Gareth. This comes as experts warned electric cars will turn Britain's streets into "minefields" and become a total nightmare. With the number of EVs on the road increasing, some charities warn it could be create major health hazards for the public.
