Days after the company that defined remote working told its employees to start coming in again, Zoom has insisted its new centre in London is not really an office but an “engagement hub”.
The firm has told its 200 staff in Britain to come in for a select number of days each week if they live within a reasonable commuting distance.
A spokeswoman for Zoom Video Communications said references to “the office” were becoming “an outdated term to describe a place of work. It’s often associated with going to a corporate building, Monday to Friday, 9-5. That’s why we’re referring to our new space as an engagement hub because ultimately, that’s what it is.”
The leased space has 75 “work points” including “library-style benches, touchdown
