The arrest of a 17-year-old over the killing of O’Shae Sibley will be treated as a hate crime, police said.
The 28-year-old professional dancer was stabbed to death at a Brooklyn gas station last month.
O’Shae was openly gay and had been dancing with his friends to a Beyoncé song at the gas station when the confrontation unfolded. The 17-year-old suspect, who has not been named due to his age, has been arrested on a hate-motivated murder charge following the fatal stabbing.
The teenager was taken into custody on Friday in connection with the killing. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said: “The death of this young man is both tragic and senseless.
